Jetlag
I’m on my last flight to Catania. I am so happy to be done with the flight to Munich. Although quicker than expected, seven and a half hours never seemed so difficult. I did not sleep a single wink, and I felt very motion sick after the first several hours. I am now absolutely exhausted, but I don’t anticipate sleep for a while.
I sneezed a lot on my Munich flight. My nose ran a lot, too, and my lips are chapped. It’s all that recycled air. Generally, I feel very crappy. I think my eyes are bloodshot, although I’m not certain. Sleep is sounding pretty wonderful right about now.
The airport in Munich was very large—a huge, glass building. Getting my passport stamped, however, was no problem at all. Everyone spoke German, even the flight attendants, which was a unique experience for me. Alas, my first taste of being a foreigner. Everyone was very polite though, and with a little sign language, I can survive. Signs are written in German and English, which is extremely helpful.
I’m a bit worried about last minute things like my ATM card pin and the fact that I have no Euro yet. I also did not buy any textbooks. Maybe I can order them tomorrow. I’ll have to speak to Prof. Lane.
