Mafioso
I went to the mini-grocery store today to buy some food. I bought a bottle of water, which turned out to be fizzy water (for which I was very disappointed and ended up tossing after only drinking about a quarter.) I also bought some banana yogurt and a mortadella, proscuitto, and provolone sandwich. The sandwich was E1.80, and two cups of yogurt were only 65 cents compared to Sidis' 92 cents. I love this particular mini-mart. Or maybe Sidis is just particularly expensive.
Anyway, here's the amazing part:
Two men came in behind me, kind of middle aged, one sort of balding. Both are short, and I am pretty sure both are Siciliano. One man handed the old woman behind the counter a little note and 1 euro. The old woman then opened the register and started handing them bills. I saw at least one 50 and one 20. She must've given them about 100 euro! They talked and laughed, and one of the men put the money away into his fanny pack.
Whoever thought a mafioso would wear a fanny pack? Take that, all those who say the mafia doesn't exist!
